In those early days, we hand-tested and reviewed every major long distance carrier in the country, scoring them on per-minute rates, billing increments, customer service wait times, and hidden fees. At our peak we tracked dozens of carriers competing for fractions of a cent per minute — 8¢, 5¢, 2.75¢ — when calling across state lines was still a meaningful expense for American families.

The phone industry changed dramatically through the 2000s and 2010s. Long distance became irrelevant as unlimited calling spread. The real cost battle shifted to wireless — monthly cell phone bills quietly became one of the largest household expenses in the country, often $100–$200 or more per month for families.

We evolved with it. The same mission that drove us in 1998 — honest, side-by-side comparisons with no fluff — now applies to the wireless market. How We Compare Plans

Every plan in our database is reviewed by hand. We track price, data allowance, hotspot, network (Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile), and notable features like international calling, multi-line discounts, and bring-your-own-device support.

Plans are updated regularly to reflect current pricing — not what a carrier charged six months ago. When something changes, we change it. Our goal is for every price you see here to be something you can actually sign up for today.
