Verizon lists the 256 GB Google Pixel 11 Pro at $479.99, $620 below its $1,099.99 retail price. No trade-in is needed, according to 9to5Google, which ran through the checkout. What is needed is Verizon's Simplicity plan, which makes this a decision about service as much as a deal on a phone.
For a single line, the short version: If the checkout terms apply to you, switching to Verizon and bringing your number could pair the $479.99 phone price with the lowest verified Simplicity rate, but the complete eligibility rules were not established. If you already have Verizon lines with device-payment promotions still running, the math can flip, because moving to Simplicity can end those credits.
What Verizon is showing
As of Sept. 28, Verizon's smartphone listing showed the Pixel 11 Pro 256 GB at $479.99, down $620 from $1,099.99. The same page offered $13.33 per month for 36 months at 0% APR. That comes to $479.88, about what you'd pay in full, but it adds a 36-month obligation on the phone. What the listing didn't show: an expiration date, activation-fee terms, financing approval or down-payment requirements, or the full eligibility rules. The price is confirmed as of Sept. 28. Check it again before you buy.
9to5Google reported the discount on Sept. 24, saying no trade-in was required but Simplicity enrollment was. In its test checkout it selected “Phone only” and “Pay in full today,” which showed that the 256 GB phone could be purchased outright for about $479. Optional add-ons could be skipped.
The plan is the real cost
Verizon's Simplicity FAQ puts the plan at $45 per line with Auto Pay and paper-free billing. You have to set up both within 30 days, and Auto Pay has to draw on a checking or savings account, a Verizon Visa Card or a Verizon Business Mastercard. Skip that discount and the plan is $55 per line. A qualifying $15 Switch & Save or Bring a Number discount takes it to $30 per line. Taxes and fees ride on top of every one of those prices.
Before taxes and fees, the phone plus 12 months of service would total $839.99 at $30 per month, $1,019.99 at $45 per month or $1,139.99 at $55 per month. Those calculations assume the applicable monthly rate remains in effect for all 12 months; the packet does not establish the duration of the qualifying $15 number-transfer discount.
One discrepancy worth knowing about: 9to5Google put the non-port service price at $40 in one passage. Verizon's published terms say $45 with Auto Pay and $55 without, and Verizon's figures are the ones that apply.
Existing customers have more to add up
If you're already a Verizon customer, this gets messier. Verizon's FAQ says an existing customer moving to Simplicity has to move every phone line on the account, and connected-device lines have to shift to compatible plans. The switch can also end promotional discounts on existing device-payment agreements. Go back to an older plan later and you give up Simplicity's promotions and benefits, while the earlier discounts may not come back.
Before switching, identify any promotional credits that would end across your lines and any connected-device lines that must move to compatible plans. Compare the resulting account-wide cost with the Pixel's $620 discount.
What Simplicity includes, and where it stops
Verizon's plan documents spell out the limits:
- Smartphone data is unlimited for on-device use, but speeds drop to 4 Mbps after 500 GB in a billing cycle.
- Mobile hotspot is capped at 10 GB, after which speeds fall to 1 Mbps for the rest of the cycle.
- Video streams at 720p in Verizon 5G and 4G LTE coverage areas.
- Talk, text and data in Mexico and Canada are included, as are unlimited calls from the U.S. to both countries. Verizon can remove or restrict that service if more than 50% of your talk, text or data use over 60 days happens outside the United States.
- Satellite texting and Call Filter are included.
What is still unknown
Verizon's pages didn't say when the promotion ends, whether an activation or upgrade fee applies, which colors and storage options get the price, or whether upgrades and new lines on existing accounts qualify on the same terms. They were also silent on how long the phone stays carrier-locked and on whether leaving Simplicity after buying it outright triggers a clawback. Ask before you check out.
