Google Fi Unlimited Standard is the more reasonable Fi choice for a domestic user who wants solid hotspot data without paying for the Premium plan's full travel package. It trades Premium's fuller travel package for a lower price while retaining useful hotspot data.
The recorded package includes unlimited data (50GB premium), 25GB hotspot, data in Canada & Mexico, smartwatch connectivity. Its 25GB hotspot allowance is useful only if that speed and amount match the way you tether.
Compare it with US Mobile and T-Mobile-network prepaid plans if international use is only occasional. Compare the carrier's current checkout terms and test local coverage before transferring every line.
Bottom line: it is a credible fit for the right usage pattern, but it is not an automatic best choice for everyone.
